DESCRIPTION

This rotation/movment involves one attacking shooter moving to ball and the other to post, which can work well against zone defence/off-body defence by commiting the defenders high and low.

  • One goaler at post, the other towards the ball, feeders around the outside.
  • initially not passing the ball in as the goalers practise the movement.

Progressions:

  • Add in a pass (not every time).
  • This should be to a moving player, never to static player.
  • If outside goaler recieves ball, they should always look in, but initially not throwing to post, will swing again.
  • Progression: “Feeders” moving around, on and off circle edge
  • Progression: Add in defenders
  • Progression: GA starts from outside the circle – look at how that player entry may vary and how GS may react to that as well as the ball.

COACHING POINTS

  • Definite movements to commit the defender
  • Types of movement - drives, clears, change of pace
  • Timing of movement - offers need to be staggered - ideally player heading to post slightly later
