Excellent drills, very detailed videos. Useful site for my U15 boys team.
Can anyone provide me ideas on how to combat a half field press in hockey?
My son has been given the role of sweeper in a team that has only won twice in two years. He is probably the weakest player in the team. What advice can I give him to think about when playing, so that he can improve and enjoy a personal sense of achievement. In training sessions I have never seen any drills designed to organise the defence which is amazing since the teams ambition is usually to keep the goals against to single figures! Are there standard apporoaches as to how close to be to the player you are marking or which side to stand to stop the attacker getting free with the ball on his open stick?.
I really have a big problem with my u/15 girls. They just can't play as a team. Any advice please. There's always a fight between someone. Mariette
I am coaching my first season as head coach. I am confident that my team has improved on alot of skills (mostly due to sportplan.net, thank you!). The only thing that is driving me crazy that my team has not improved on is the over committing block tackle. When an opponent is coming down the field on a breakway, my defense runs up and block tackles, and the opponent shoots right past them. This will happen two or three times in a row, one defender after the other. I've told them to keep their feet moving and to keep off their toes, keeping their momentum with the opponent. I don't know how to practice this with them. We only have 9 players (this is a high school varsity team) so we can't scrimmage full field during practice. Please help! I'm desperate for a solution.
Have a team of older group of ladies who need to learn to pass the ball back, any good drills for this?
Hi,I perhaps naively, expected to have most of our team from last year carry over and only have a few new comers to integrate and get up to speed with the rest. However meeting the team at our first practice last night i find I have five players still at school from last year and the rest all new comers, most of whom had not held a hockey stick at all till practice. This being only my second season coaching (year 9 to year 13 boys) has left me feeling a little blindsided, and feeling quite unsure how to prepare practices that target both groups of boys. Do i lump them both groups together, keep them separate? What drills/exercises to best bring the new comers up to speed.I don't want to neglect either group, keep practice worthwhile for the experienced boys, but also bringing the new comers up to a level were they can mix in with the others and learn organically from them while practicing as a team. I've been using a 3 4 3. It worked very well with the players I had but a majority of them have graduated and I'm not sure it's a good fit for my new squad......suggestions... this new group is young, not quite as fast overall or powerful on attack
I'm currently coaching a team of 18 year old girls.(Field Hockey) Some players don't show up for practice or when they do, they aren't motivated to give their best. Despite my tiring efforts to try and motivate them as a good AND bad guy. I am out of ways to punish and/or motivate the girls. What do you coaches do to keep your team committed? And when they aren't, what are your ways of handling the situation?
I want to use nets in my drills but due to space limitations on the pitch, they arent any available for our age group. I would like to invest in some small relatively cheap nets to use that are portable and easy to set up but not sure exactly what I should be looking for. The mini hockey nets are so expensive and I'm worried mini football nets mightnt be sturdy enough. Does anyone know of/ use mini goals that theyd recommend?
I have to teach a group of kids hockey which i dont know anything about myself. Im planning to do a warm up, driils/skills and a game of hockey but was wondering if anyone has some ideas of what works well with kids aged 8-10

Hello. I have been trying to cancel this subscription for months!! Jeepers you don't make it easy, except to take people's money.
How can I uncancel my membership? I am paid up until 12/12/23 but want to continue my membership. Also, how come I can't email your company. It is easy to sign-up, but after that, there doesn't seem to be any support when needed. Thanks!
