Feeding the Circle 1: From the Edge

Sharon Garner Coach, England

DESCRIPTION

C feeds to WA as they drive onto the circle edge at speed GS holds high and strong at an angle WA feeds into the space beyond Options With larger groups, have a queue of WAs with balls that can send ball to the C then drive forward. Start the play from a C pass, or simulate ball coming down court from a turnover ball

COACHING POINTS

GS initial hold and angle is key; it must be strong and high Landing on the circle edge in a balanced and controlled manner Trust that the feeder can view and place the ball into 'safe' space; decision led by feeder rather than shooter The feed from the edge can be measured and controlled, no need to rush! Land and balance, take a breathe, and then place the ball neartly into the space!
