Transition from Defence to Attack (Depth, Width, Drive)

I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching...
Donna, Coach

DESCRIPTION

  • In this drill, we are trying to avoid the situation in transition when everyone is 'out' of position for attack (having just been defending) so just run away!!
  • Variation 1:
  • Working in pairs with a ball, the feeder gives anywheres then calls 'go'!
  • Working player finds width before heading back in for lifted pass ahead of them.
  • Variation 2: This time attacking player drives away to create their space, then pops back
  • Progression.Have 2 working players.
  • On 'go', they need to create alternate space - one going wide to find depth, the other heading deep to pop back.
  •
  • Progression: add in defenders
  • Progression: Take into court relevant positions and react to sitautions where ball is intercepted, missed goals. Also relat to free passes, penalty passes

COACHING POINTS
