1 v 1 from the wing

Set up two lines, one for the for the defending players (red) and the other for the attacking players (blue) who have one ball. When the coach blows their whistle both players run around their respective cones (shown in diagram). After the blue player has made their way around the cone another player in the offensive players' line passes the ball to them. After they've run round the cones players play out the 1 vs 1.

Circle Relay

Set the cones up as shown in the diagram. Split the group into equal teams. On the whistle players have to dribble around the outside cones. Once they have completed a circuit they then move into the next (nearer the middle) set of cones. This is repeated until they end up in the middle, at which time they go back to their team for the next person to go.

Set out the cones as shown in the diagram. One player starts with a ball with two other players starting in the middle of the cross (compass). One player is an attacker with the other a shadowing defender. The player with the ball has to pass the ball to the attacker, who then passes the ball back. The attacker must then run to another point (cone) of the compass before returning to the middle to receive another pass.

Dribble Relay

Split the group into equal teams. Set the cones up as shown in the diagram. On the whistle players dribble around the cones, when they reach the end the dribble straight back to the end of the queue. The player then has to roll the ball through the legs of their team to the person at the front of the queue.

Hot Seat- Shooting Game

Set up as shown in diagram. If the player makes the shot, then they will go to the back of the line and the next player will shoot. If a player misses a shot, then they will go stand by the cone (this place is called the "hot seat") If the next player makes the shot, then the player on the "hot seat" is out. If the next player misses then the player on the "hot seat" goes to the back of the line and the player who missed takes their place on the "hot seat". The winner is the last person in the game.

Pass and run diaginally across

Straight passing and diagonal running. 4 groups of players with two balls (see diagram). O1 with balls pass to the other side and runs diagonally to opposite group and continue.

Players set up as shown in the diagram. The player who makes the first pass, will run around the outside of the circle and back to their original spot. The rest of the players in the circle will pass the ball around. If the person running gets around the circle and back to their original spot before the ball gets there they are the winners.

Pass, Cut and Shoot 3

Setup the drill as shown in the diagram. Player 1 makes a pass to player 2 before continuing their run, makes a cut and then receives the ball from player 2. Player 1 then takes a shot. After having a shot player 1 takes player 2s original position and player 2 joins the queue of players.

Slalom Shooting Drill

Setup as shown in the diagram. Players have to dribble through the slalom, on reaching the end of the slalom the player then shoots.

Teaching the screen

Off the ball screen, practiced in a closed situation. In threes players set up in a triangle. player at the top passes the ball in either direction then sets the screen the opposite way. in the diagram 1 passes to 3 and sets a screen for player 2. 2 curls round towards the basket and receives a pass from player 3 to shoot a lay-up. collects the lay up and passes to either player and sets the a screen.

Pass and Lay-Up Drill Dribblin...

Set players up as shown in diagram.One player on each side will dribble/run to half court.Once they get to half court, the players will turn and face the basket.The player with the ball will pass across to the other player. That player will then pass back to the original ball handler. Where that player will dribble to the basket and shoot a lay-up.

1v1 From the Post 1 v 1 - Bask...

The coach or a teammate places the ball on the floor. Facing away from the basket, player 1 (attacker) stands in front of player 2 (defender). Player 1 then picks up the ball and attempts to get into position to shoot.

Split all your players into two teams and have them line up on opposite sides of the court.2 basketballs are placed at mid-court.Each player is given a number (eg. 1-5).The coach will set out a basket that each team will shoot at.The coach will call out a number.When the number is called out, the corresponding number will run out to get the ball, dribble to the basket and keep shooting till the shot is made.Once the shot is made the players will run after the ball and dribble it back to the center circle.The first player to score and get the ball back to the center circle wins.

1 v 1 Advantage Games - Basket...

A line of players will start in the corner. There will be a cone in front of the players about 25 ft away. There will also be a cone along the baseline that the defensive player will run around. The player at the front of the line will have a basketball. The coach will nominate 1 person to start on defence. When the coach yells GO both players will take off to get around their cones. Once they are around the cones they are playing 1 v 1.

Split the group into equal teamsPlace cones at 5m intervals.On the command the players dribble to the 1st cone before stopping and dribbling back to the start (whilst still facing forwards).They then progress to dribble to the 2nd cone before dribbling back to the 1st cone and so on. Once they complete the relay they run to the back and roll the ball through the legs of their team mates to the person at the start of the queue.

Two groups of players, each group with one ball. Two players are standing opposite the groups at the distance approx. 4 metres. O1 and O2 pass to opposite players and goes to opposite group and continue.

The defender (red player 1) rolls the ball out for the attacker to pick up and then play a 1 v 1 against them. The rules of the practice are that the attacker is only allowed three attacking dribbles before the point is dead.

3 lines with the basketball starting in the middle.The ball is passed to a side, then back to the middle and then over to the other side.The ball is always passed back to the middle.Once the half court has been reached the players on the side will turn back the other way and run towards the basket.The player in the middle with the ball will dribble down the middle and make a pass to one of the players for a lay-up.

Blue player 1 starts with the ball in their hand on the baseline on the left hand side of the key. They then roll the ball towards red player 1 and can pick it up once its gone past the free throw line.Red player 1 must run as soon as the ball is thrown to behind the backboard before having a 1 v 1. Roles are reversed once the game is over.

One player stands on each cone with a fifth player standing between two of the players, with the ball in hand. The player in front of the player in possession should set off on a lead run and receive the pass from the fifth player. After running onto the pass the next player in the square should make a lead run, looking to receive the next pass. After passing players should continue to run until they reach the unoccupied cone.

Place basketballs 3m from playersPlayer starts on their back and on the signal gets up, picks up the ball and starts to dribble around the cone and back again. When the ball is placed down on the floor the next person can go.
