DESCRIPTION

All player start on line

On the signal the players must move backwards and forwards over the line whilst maintaing the ball dribbling on the line.

COACHING POINTS

Both feet must be over / behind the line

Start with right hand 1st then left

Look at hand moving ball backwards and forwards - pushing and pulling.

OFTEN USED WITH...

1 v 1 from the wing:

Set up two lines, one for the for the defending players (red) and the other for the attacking players (blue) who have one ball.

When the coach blows their whistle both players run around their respective cones (shown in diagram).

After the blue player has made their way around the cone another player in the offensive players' line passes the ball to them.

After they've run round the cones players play out the 1 vs 1.

Diamond Tag:

Setup the practice as shown.

White player 1 and Blue Player 1 begin to dribble in a diamond shape as shown. One must try and catch up with the other to tag them. Keep score.

Zig-Zag Dribble Drill:

First player dribbles full court with a defender covering all the time. Upon reaching the opposite baseline player dribbling becomes the defender and the other player dribbles the length of the court.

Dribbling Circuit:

6 Players on the side line

2 Groups of players behind the base line

Players 1 and 4 dribbles the ball to the free throw line and passes the ball to the person standing on the side of the court, who immediately throws the ball back. The player then dribbles to the half way line and repeat. The players on the other side are repeating the practice going the opposite direction.
