Netball: Driving into Channels

There are five players on the outside of the circle, with three balls between them, and two players inside the circle. The players inside the circle have to move around the circle quickly, calling for the ball. When they receive the pass they need to pass to a player without a ball (not the same player who passed to them originally).

Players set up two sets of lines which are facing one another. The two lines which start without the ball both sprint into the middle of the area to receive the pass from the left. After receiving the ball they then pass it straight over and follow their pass. The front players in the two lines which don't have a ball now both drive into the middle to receive the pass from the left and then throw the ball straight over and follow their pass.

in pairs the worker runs out to touch the circle edge and then runs back in to receive the ball after which they return the ball to the feeder. The worker should then run out to the edge of the circle again (different place) and returns to catch the next ball.

Player 2 moves into the circle to receive a ball from blue player 1. Blue 1 immediately moves in to take up the rebound position with the defender (green player 1) and battle for the rebound. If the shot is put up from A, the rebound position is the area marked by the semi circle. The player must guard this area from her opponent.

One shooter from each side runs into the circle. X passes the ball to one of them, who balances then shoots. Shooter not used defends the shot and then returns the ball to X.

The shooter has 10 shots from under the post while the rebounder has to defend each shot and then collect the rebound. Players should then change roles and the exercise is then repeated from a little further out.

Set up: Split players into runners and shooters - no more than 4 shooters at one time who start in the shooting circle, each with a ball. The runners line up on the middle transverse line facing the shooters. The Aim: Shooters need to score 50 goals before the runners finish their shuttles. They can shoot from anywhere in the circle and must keep count themselves. The runners must complete 20 lengths of the two thirds before the shooters score their 50 goals. Each time the runners touch an end line that counts as 1 shuttle run. When both groups have finished change the 4 shooters this means some players will be running again which is good for their fitness and all players will run twice. You could allow them to complete 15 shuttles if they are struggling.

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON* Set up: half court space, 1 ladder, 6 cones, 2 ball, 2+ players. Player A starts in the shooting circle, the other player, B, on half way.  Player B, on halfway runs little feet through the ladder.  At the end of the ladder, 3 cones are set up in an L formation.  Player B runs in the L formation twice then drives to top of the circle. Player A, inside the circle feeds the ball to player B at the top of the circle and drives out.  Running player drives towards the base of the post then on an angle out towards the feeding player who delivers the ball back into the player who puts up a shot.   

Player 3 starts with the ball and passes the ball to Player 2 before running around behind player 2 in to the circle. Player 2 then passes the ball to player 1 who then passes the ball to player 3 for her to shoot. Player 2 gets any rebounds.

Shooting circle, hoop, 3x cones, 1+ players. Players take a shot from the three chosen points around the shooting circle.  Starting at the closest cone, when successful, the player moves out to the next cone.

Three players perform this drill with two balls. Two players stand by the post with a ball each, while the third player is stood outside of the circle. Player one shoots and then collects the ball, before player two passes the ball to the players who is outside of the circle, who then returns the ball to player two outside of the circle. Player three then moves in towards the post to receive the final pass in the sequence, and shoots before collecting the ball. Player one in the mean time, starts the same pass sequence with player two, who is now the new player outside the circle, and the drill continues in this fashion.

Working on their own each player has a ball and takes it in turn to work on their shooting technique. Stood about a metre from the net players should take their time and line up their shot with the pole - focusing on height , flight , flick and the finish of their shot.

Players must sprint from one cone to another as fast as they can, making sure they bend down and touch each cone. After the final cone they should drive into the circle to receive the pass from the coach. Players must stop and play the shot as best they can.

Space out four passers (red players) with a ball each around the outside of the shooting circle. The rest of your players line up on the baseline. Running one at a time players run out, touch the ball in the passer's hands and then run backwards 3-4 steps before receiving the pass in space and shooting for goal. After the shot they collect the ball, pass it back to the passer and then move on to the next outside player. The next player waiting on the baseline can now go. Repeat at each point (four time in total).

Space out four passers (red players) with a ball each around the outside of the shooting circle. The rest of your players line up on the baseline. Running one at a time players run out, touch the ball in the passer's hands and then run backwards 3-4 steps before receiving the pass in space and shooting for goal. After the shot they collect the ball, pass it back to the passer and then move on to the next outside player. The next player waiting on the baseline can now go. Repeat at each point (four time in total).

Set up two equal lines of players, stood behind 5 cones which lead into the goal circle. Each player must weave around the cones, picks up the ball and shoots the goal. After the shot players collect the ball and replace it for the next player in line to run onto (if you have more than 8 players, one player can stand behind the goal line and pass the ball to the incoming players).
