Basketball: Footwork pivoting Drill

Great tool for bringing focus to practices. Began using it last year...
Eric, Coach

DESCRIPTION

Blue 1 moves to the middle to receive a pass from red 1, as they catch the ball they must land with either a jump stop or a stride stop.

Blue 1 then pivots on the correct foot to face the line they came from. They then pass to the next player in line. Blue 1 then pivots again to face where the pass came from and runs to join the back of that line.

The drill is then repeated.

Ensure the players catch the ball in the air. Younger and inexperienced players tend to catch the ball then perform a jump/stride stop.

The player in the middle must perform a pivot with the ball. If they land with a stride stop they must not move the foot that landed first.
