GA defence
As a new GA in an over 40's rookie team, i'm mostly focusing on finding space and helping to get the ball to the GS /supporting and being in a good position in the in the circle. how much do I need to worry about marking the GD as our WA thinks I should focus more on that instead of my current focus.

Goal Attack
DESCRIPTION
Hi Gemma, as a Goal Attack (GA), your primary focus should indeed be on finding space, supporting the Goal Shooter (GS), and positioning yourself well in the circle. This is crucial for receiving passes and creating scoring opportunities.
While marking the Goal Defence (GD) is part of your role, it shouldn't overshadow your main responsibilities. It's important to balance both aspects: creating opportunities for your team while being aware of the GD's movements to avoid interceptions.
If your Wing Attack (WA) suggests focusing more on marking, it might be beneficial to discuss and align on team strategies. However, your current focus on space and support is essential for effective play as a GA.
For more detailed drills and strategies, you might find this session plan on effectively finding space helpful: 1 Effectively finding space.
Best of luck with your team!
