After a long summer off, throwing players straight into full-blooded tackling is asking for trouble. Here's a graduated, welfare-led way to rebuild collision tolerance in pre-season.
Restart kicks are now the most common set-piece in rugby and the easiest to lose. Treat them like a lineout: prepare options, drill the catch, and own the reception.

REMEMBER: It’s a very long season
Whatever level you are coaching at you will need to have a clear plan for your pre-season schedule. Write this down and share it with your fellow coaches and players. This plan will allow you to see how your team is progressing towards the first game and allow the players to review what has been achieved so far and what you have planned in future sessions.
