Developing rebounding skills to maximise success on goal for the shooters

Rebounding is a crucial skill within netball as if the shot is unsuccessful, securing the rebound will give your team another opportunity at goal.

What?s in the Session?

The session begins with a fun warm-up game focused around shooting. The warm-up encourages the players to follow their shots and go in for the rebound in order to stay in the game, of which will prove useful later in the session. The session develops to provide a series of drills focused in the shooting circle which encourage your players to follow their shot after shooting. It is important your players do this to ensure they are there ready to compete for the rebound in case the shot does not go in. ?Shoot and Drive for the Rebound? encourages your players to be competitive and fight for the rebound, presenting a more game like situation. The session concludes with a modified game of netball, with certain conditions placed upon the game to get your players demonstrating what they have learnt.

It is important shooters do not simply watch their shot after shooting, they must follow it up as if it goes in perfect, and if it does not they are there ready to compete for the rebound to have another chance on goal.
