Sportplan rugby has played a large role in my team's love for the game!
During an under 16's game the defending team had a flanker sin binned. In the resulting scrum(on there 5m line) the ref told us to remove a flanker from the pack as the scrum needs to be of equal numbers. Is this right or should they have used a back to replace the flanker?
Hi there, I was wondering thoughts on forward positions at the kickoff. Do you have the catchers deep so the are coming forward to meet the ball or have one deep and one short? For the pods do you have a "quick" pod made up of all three loosies and a lock and a "slow" pod made up of the front row and the lock or do you split them in two pods made up of a prop, a lock and two loosies and the other pod of a prop, a lock, the hooker and a loosie? Who would you tell to be the ball carrier, body movers and bridger? All thoughts welcome. CheersDave

what tips would you give for a flanker aged 17
What tactics can be used when chasing a box kick? In addition to the blind side wing chasing the kick, what patterns could be used to regain possession or limit counter attacking possibilities?
What would be the likely outcome of a scrum fed from the thrower's tighthead side? Who would more likely win possession and what quality of possession could be expected? What if the law was that most scrums were required to be fed from the thrower's tighthead with the non offender determining who was to feed? The remainder, such as penalty scrums, would stay as is. Could this encourage a more constructive approach to scrummaging?
I need ideas for fun team building activities and any fun games to help towards team building. Has anyone got any ideas on what to do? Anything to spice up rugby training sessions in the dark, cold winter nights.
Flanker protecting the Scrum Half? How can a Flanker protect the Scrum-Half at a scrum without holding on to the oppositions Scrum Half? Also any advice for an Openside flanker on tackling the fly-half from scrums?
If one were to really flood the back line by bringing in the weak side wing AND fullback (off a scrum), who would you recommend using to cover for kicks on turnover ball? I'm thinking the blind side flanker could loop around to do it, but then you lose his services at the breakdown. Thoughts?
Hi, Does anyone have any drills for a No 8 in Rugby for a U11 group
Making the full-back position an attractive proposition. Often over-looked, the full-back position is a vital player in anyones team if he is used and brought into the game. Does anyone have any technical/positional material to coach prospective players in this position?
Any tips / drills as to what rest of team can do to support so No 8 doesn't charge ahead and get isolated.
Looking at developing a session through to and including the 3rd phase. Objective is play from scrum, with the 13 coming short. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
My coach has put me at openside flanker and I'm confused of where i should be after the scrum. Should I be attacking the opposing scrum half or just trailing behind the backs waiting to clean up/ form a ruck? It would be great to know what I'm doing !
I will be coaching under 10 next season and need some guidance on how to interpret the rules for the maul?
Hi. Please let me have your input. 15-a-side Boys. Whose responsibility is it to tackle a player that cuts into the backline? Lets say the attacking team's FB cuts in between the C's , should my inside C then go for the tackle? We have sweepers (usually the SH and no 8) to cover breaks.
Any tips / drills as to what rest of team can do to support so No 8 doesn't charge ahead and get isolated.
Under 8's first session on 'contact' %3A the plan is to get them on the ground with the ball, learning contact with the ground before the player%3A can anyone suggest some ground based drills with the ball, (eg forward roll) to get them going? Thanks
Hi. I am in charge of the Mini Rugby (age 8) warm-up and am interested in more ideas. I try and keep them fun, sports specific and interesting for the boys and they seem to like what I do. Can anyone please help? Thanks!
