Center shot when running - Fast Break

Simple fast break drill with two lines of players (one on each side) and a feeder/coach standing in the middle. The player at the front of the line passes the ball to the feeder in the middle and then sprints towards the goal. The feeder returns the ball, passing the ball in front of the runner, for them to run onto and shoot with a quick center shot! The attackers should go all the way to the goal line. Low shots are more effective!!

Fast Break - Combination Pass 2v1

In this move the winger start with the ball and passes the keeper who returns the pass to the center back. At this point the wing back and the winger both make a forward run. Once the wing back receives the pass from the center back the defender is then free to run forward to put pressure on the wing back. The wing back must read the situation and decide on the best way to progress the attack. They can either pass the ball to the winger who has made a looping run behind them or they can carry the ball forward themselves for the shot on goal. Drill continues until a shot/interception has been made.

Playing across a half-court each team has to try and score on the opposition's mat. Instead of scoring in a goal players must place the ball on the opposition's mat - if the ball rolls off then the point is void! Players are free to move anywhere within the half-court area and normal rules apply apart for scoring a goal.

Players A and B pass their balls with a high pass towards the throw off line of the court. They sprint for each others balls and A dribbles to the other half and tries to score a goal. B dribbles around the cones and tries to score a goal on this part of the court.A and B change positions after they have returned.

Fast Break - Keeper Feed 1v1 5...

Set up two equal lines of players on both side of the baseline and two defenders just beyond the half way line. All baseline players have a ball each. The move starts with a one-two pass from the player on the baseline to the keeper. Upon playing the pass the players should run forward and receive the pass from the keeper on the run. After this players dribble the ball up court at speed. Once the attackers cross the half way line the defenders are allowed to put pressure on the attacker. Drill continues until a shot/interception has been made.

2 attackers versus 2 defenders. The attackers must dribble and pass the ball around the two defenders. To begin with the defenders cannot move from the spot and the attackers must run and engage the defender (with a side-step or a dummy) before progressing towards goal.

1 vs 1 - Beat your man 538 fas...

Player 1 acts as the feeder in this drill. Taking it in turns one attacking player from each side receives the pass and then runs on to try and get past the defender stood near the 7 meter line. If they get past the attacker should try and score a goal. Once they have had a shot players rotate - so the attacker becomes the defender and the defender joins the back of the attacking line.

Two attackers are passing and suddenly one of them shoots at the goal. At that moment the two defenders sprint for the fast break and the goalkeeper passes them the ball after getting control over the goalshot.

Goalkeeper stands on the goal line. A player throws two balls at the goal, which the goalkeeper tries to stop. He then sprints forward, touches the ball of the blue player, who throws it high over the goalkeeper's head into the goal. When the goalkeeper has touched the ball he jogs back to save the lobbed shot before it crosses the goal line. Once under control of the ball, he throws a fast break pass to one of the players half way up the court.

Blue player 1 is the feeder in this drill and feeds to the ball to one of the players to either their left or right for them to run onto. The blue player with the ball must then run onto the ball and try to get past the two defenders on their side of the court and shoot on goal.

Handball: Fast Break - Defence...

Have a line of attacking players all with a ball each standing on both sides of the court. Inside the 9m line will be two defenders, one on each side. The drill starts with the first attacker running at goal and shooting on goal. The defenders are allowed to obstruct the shot but not tackle. Once the ball is in the hands of the keeper they should throw it out to the defender who is making a fast break-away run up the court. After running to the half-way line the defender joins the back of the queue, the attacking player becomes the next defender and the drill begins again on the other side of the court.

Attacking player 1 runs with the ball to the outside of the 9m semi-circle and throws at the goal. The defender must only obstruct the shot, not make a tackle, to put the attacker under pressure. The goalkeeper must then get the ball under control and pass past the obstructing defenders to the breaking defender who has just made the run. The session then continues on the other side of the court.

Players stand in four lines along the half way line. A player on both side starts with the ball in hand. The attackers play give-and-go as they progress up the court and pass around the defender. The move finished with attacker 1 (the player who started with the ball) throwing at the goal.
