How to take it back a step

ANSWERS

Getting free is about timing and a change of pace, not just running. Start with simple dodges (a sharp step one way, then push off and drive the other) in 1v1 channels with a feeder, so players practise selling the fake before they move. Then add the cue: drive when the ball carrier is ready to pass, not before, and make the final move into space at full speed with hands up as a target. Once they have it, put them against a tight marker and reward the player who makes the defender commit first. This week's 'Dodge, Drive, Receive' blog walks through the progressions.
