where do you start coaching Gr 1 netball. I need some tips please.
Hi Lindie,
With young athletes it is important to explain the basics. This includes:
The rules
The different positions and where they are allowed
The footwork rule
Holding the ball for 3 seconds
Distance - maintain a 3ft distance while doing 2nd stage arms over defence
No contact
- You can them move on to explain the main passes:
Chest pass
Shoulder pass
Overhead pass
Bounce pass
Once they have understood these you can then move onto some simple drills:
- Footwork and Pivot
- Passing and Moving
- Catch and Turn
- Quick Footwork
- Changing Direction
Hope this helps.
