Any tips for getting into a space on a backline pass?

I'm a defender and find it really difficult to get into a space when it's a backline pass, any tips??

Hi Elysia,

The key is to try shake off your marker and not stand still. You can use techniques such as feinting (dropping your shoulder one way but then sprinting the other), and also develop your speed so you can get an extra yard on the opposition.

We have plenty of drills here at Sportplan on getting free and movement - simply search our Netball drills under the `getting free` category to give you ideas. I`ve also got one here for you to get started in your next training session - try it out with your coach and your team-mates!

Hope that helps!

Getting free

DESCRIPTION
The attacker has to try and get free and receive the ball by any of the 4 corner cones on the floor. Once they've achieved this the attacker returns the pass and starts in the middle again.
