Set up the drill with 7 players. Each stands in a 'pizza slice' area. There will be one free 'slice' as drawn in the diagram.
Start without a ball and players are to run into the free space. You cannot run into a space next to your area. This drill gets them making eye contact or talking to each other.
Progression 1: Speed up the drill.
Progression 2: add a ball
Progression 3: add a defender/s
After this, try making the pizza slices the size of one third, and they must pass into every slice to score.
Drill can also be done as squares, using three players. Just always have one empty area for it to work. You could have players nominating who is running into the space next by calling their name.
Encourages decision making, moving onto the ball and moving into the space for the next pass.
