why do you need speed in netball;
Hi Ella,
Speed is an important skill within netball and is utilised in both attack and defence! Attackers need speed so they are able to change direction and get away from defenders to receive the ball and stay in possession. Speed is also important to ensure the ball flows down court quickly.
In defence speed of movement is key to be able to stay with your attacker. It's also needed to move off your player and go for a flying interception.
I've attached a simple sprints drill to help improve speed whilst also working on changing direction and moving your feet!
Hope this helps.
