i am trying to get my teams to use channels down the attacking court to stop getting in each others way. any ideas for drills and practice please.
Three players spread out along the base line (P1 - left, P2 with the ball - middle, P3 - right). P3 makes a diagonal run (towards the left/middle) forward to receive a straight ball from P2. P1 makes a diagonal run (towards the right/middle) forward to receive the ball in the centre third from P3. As P1 is making their run, P2 (the first to release the ball) makes a diagonal run behind P3 (to the right), changes direction and makes another diagonal run back towards the middle to receive the next ball from P1. P3 makes a diagonal run forards behind P2 (to the left), changes direction to run at a diagonal back towards the middle to reciev the ball from P3. And repeat. So basically once a player has passed the ball, they make a run behind the next receiver and cut back in to receive the ball off them (Two runs should happen at the same time, with the second run added on from the behind player. You can also make more passes in each third so it is over a smaller distance to suit your player's ability.
