my shooters are too weak when it comes to the last touch
Hi Walugembe,
Firstly I would advise you to ensure they have the correct shooting technique found here . Sometimes players find it easier to think of a triangle or 'witches hat' on top of the post - this stimulates the idea that the shot needs to go up high (hitting the top of the triangle) to then drop. Too often shooters simply push the ball up which decreases the chance of success, the technique to go up to fall down is usually more successful.
Once your players have their technique correct it is simply about taking their time, composing themselves and practising. For this, I would advise putting a number of cones randomly placed at different distances from the post within the circle. Your shooters must take shots from each cone, once they have scored a goal from that cone they can move it to the side - the aim is to get all of the cones gone as quickly as possible as this means their shots have been more successful. This is a good drill as they can track their improvement over time but can also see where they are weaker shooting from and help overcome this.
I hope this helps.
in more ways than one
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
Train your defenders to win clean turnovers, not just disrupt. The difference between good defenders and great ones is taking the ball, not just touching it.
