how can you defend against a lob pass
The honest answer to your question John is that a correctly setup and executed lob pass is pretty much impossible to defend as the pass should be received behind the shooter and so their body should be protecting the ball at all times. your best chance is to have a VERY tall defence player in front and hope she can jump and intercept or at least deflect.
but since most of us coaches are lacking in that type of defence your best chance, is to not let the shooter set up the lob pass in the first place. get your defence to defend her from behind or side, (prob the same way she has been defending your player) and have her keep the shooter as close to the edge of the circle to make her shoot from range.
Hope that helps :)
in more ways than one
The early 'shoot from anywhere' era is over. Smart teams now use data-driven decision models to decide when the two-pointer is worth it.
The short pass is being penalised more consistently in 2026. Here's how to train proper passing technique and eliminate hand-offs under pressure.
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
