hi, i am new to coaching and our girls are only 7, this is their first season and are playing Netta Netball which is a slight variation to netball, ie, lower goal post, how do i teach them to get in front or to get the ball if their girl is a lot taller, they need to learn defending and getting in front to get the ball but dont know how to explain to them.
At this age, the first rule has to be FUN! If they are only 7 you can afford to just put them on court to "have a go". You can do simple drills to make them move towards the player with the ball i.e. run away from the feeder to a marker, then turn and run back towards the player for a pass so they get a feel for moving towards rather than away and that should take them in front of the defender!
in more ways than one
The Wing Attack is the critical link between midcourt possession and circle feeding. This masterclass breaks down the movement patterns, timing, and spatial awareness that separate elite WAs from the rest, with practical drills to develop these skills at every level.
Footwork is the foundation of every skill in netball. This guide provides a clear explanation of the stepping rule, the mechanics of one-foot and two-foot landings, pivoting technique, and progressive drills to build footwork confidence from junior level upward.
The early 'shoot from anywhere' era is over. Smart teams now use data-driven decision models to decide when the two-pointer is worth it.
