how do i bring out aggression in my players?
what age group are we talking? will depend on the type of physical play you are wanting. I prefer the word physical than aggression as the latter tends to intend that there is negative emotion behind the play whereas being physical or assertive on court is just about more how you play the game. hope that makes sense. let me know the age group and i will give you some drills that have helped teams ive coached over the years.
I delivered an assertive defending session this season and the players said it allowed them to have more confidence to go for it on the court and be assertive.
The session was a generally loud and fun. In the warm up we were calling each other`s names when passing. As part of skills we were running on to loose / neglected balls and calling "mine".
The most effective drill was for two players to compete for one ball. They start stand together in toss up position (almost 1m apart and facing each other). They both lay their hands on the ball simultaneously. Once all players are in the set position the coach calls Go - each player attempts to make the ball theirs whilst calling "IT`S MY BALL"
Good luck bringing out the inner strength!
in more ways than one
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
Train your defenders to win clean turnovers, not just disrupt. The difference between good defenders and great ones is taking the ball, not just touching it.
Netball is experiencing unprecedented growth, with record viewership, evolving rules, and professional leagues expanding worldwide. Here's what 2026 brings for our sport.
