What skills does a centre play need in particular that separates them from the rest of the players? I'm interested in the specific skills to work on in relation to the drills, etc so there isn't too much unrelated stuff going on.
hi there.this is purely my own thoughts bt the reason centres r usually the captain is that that position requires alot more skills than the others, in saying that i in no way mean it is the most important tho. centres not only need the skill of attack but they need to be able to switch from attack to defence at the drop of a hat. they need tohave a good sense of the game and reading it b able to work wth their d and a team mates as the centre position is the only one to go newhere on court but the circle. their fitness level must be high and their catching and throwing must b accurate. hope this helps???
in more ways than one

Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
