What is the best way to defend against a team that continually use bounce passes?

Hi

My U11 team play against teams that continually use bounce passes, but they struggle to defend against them. I don't encourage the girls' to use them at this age, but I think this is making it hard for them to know what to do. Any help gratefully received. Thanks Charlotte

Hey Charlotte,

I would start off simple.

  1. in partners and taking turns - Have one person roll the ball to their partner.
  2. The receiver should pita patter, bend to collect it then throw the ball back and start again.
  3. Encourage them to get low to collect the ball.
  4. Introduce a 3rd person to pita patter so they can compete against one another for the ball.
  5.  Once they have got the hang of it, Start bounce passing (still in groups of three) so they fight for the ball.

Hope they have fun doing this :)
