Hi I have now two new girls that havent played before what is the best position to put them in until I know where they are best suited. I have been coaching for a year and a half (Under 11s) team of 9. The new girls will attend one training session before the first game.
See there stengths and weaknesses If one is tall but cant pass put her in GK, If they can pass put them In WA, As a player i find it really annoying to have a set position then when a new girl comes takes it, ask your team before.
Hope I helped %3A)

I would definately start them on the wings IF I had strong GDs and GAs (A must). You must have your best players scoring and in the last line of defence. Use scratch matches and trianing to test their skills. They would have to prove themselves for any other positions. I would also rotate them into other positions when playing a weaker team where practical for a quarter here and there. Each group of girls has their own dynamic.
I would start them on the wings and then as they get used to the game, rotate them into other positions.
Megan I understand what you are saying but you are obviously an older girl %3A-)
Under 11's is so young and I am a big believer in players in that age group being played in all positions, they are so young and should get the opportunity to play everywhere. Sometimes players are pigeon holed way too early and they will never develop if they are only playing the same position all the time %3A-)
in more ways than one
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
Train your defenders to win clean turnovers, not just disrupt. The difference between good defenders and great ones is taking the ball, not just touching it.
