What are the different types of dodges in netball?
there are many main ones are %3A single lead where you sprint out to the side at an angle and recieve the ball. a double lead where you run out to the side(at least 5-6 steps) and if your defender is still with you stop suddenly plant your foot and sprint back towards where you started and recieve the ball. there is the feint dodge where you try to trick your defender into thinking your going to run in one direction then run the oppersite way. you do this by standing in front or behind and transfer the weight of your body in a slightly exagerated way from one foot to the other dip your shoulders and try to send them one way as you run the other. there is also a reverse pivot where you turn around your defender on the foot closest to her and roll around the back of her body to come from the oppersite side that you where standing at. I am sure there are many more.
in more ways than one
Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
