Under 9s
What are some good training drills or activities for a junior teams very first practice. My under 9's team (10 players) are all brand new to netball and I want to make sure they learn but also enjoy training. Any suggestions for initial drills or activities would be appreciated
Hi Libby, for your under 9's team, it's important to keep the sessions fun and engaging while introducing them to the basics of netball. Here are some suggestions:
- Warm-Up Games: Start with simple warm-up games like "Easy as 1, 2, 3" which can help them get moving and ready for practice. This game is great for introducing basic movements and coordination .
- Basic Passing Drills: Teaching them the fundamentals of passing is crucial. You can find drills that focus on passing techniques, which are essential for beginners .
- Fun Position Learning: Use games to help them understand different positions on the court. This can be a fun way to introduce them to the roles each player has .
- Small Sided Games: Engage them in small-sided games to encourage teamwork and allow them to practice what they've learned in a game-like scenario .
