When a player throws the ball in from outside the court (from the backline, either the GS or the GA is throwing the ball in), can they throw the ball and have it rebound off the goalpost, while catching it mid-air???
Hi Allison,
This is allowed, although an irregular tactic. Please see below a link to when this question was asked before.
Good luck with it!
Rebounding off the GoalpostI have taught my girls to use it, but the other shooter has to lure the 2 defenders away from the goal post for it to be done safely. However at yesterdays game the opposition GA tried to do it and it bounced back out of court. So needs to be done with caution.
What if there is not enough space between the player taking the ball outside and the post? How does the GK or GD defend?
There is no short pass in this situation. the GD or GK have heaps of room to defend...but you wouldn`t use this technique if there was defence in front of you as the probability of you being about to get the pass is very low. its for only if the GK or GD are double teaming the other shooter.
