Any advice on how to tell parents their daughter didn't make the top team after having been it the year before. This is a primary school team.
why do you need to explain your decisions to parents? if the child or parent came to you, and asked what their child could do to help their chances to make the top team for next year thats a different story, but isnt it obvious why their daughter didnt make it? her skills or attitude were not at the level that is required to make that team. end of story. (one of my bug bears is parents and children who have this entitlement of being in the best team but not have the skills to back it up). if you need to make a speech, then i would probably just say something along the lines of...after the trials, i have picked teams based on levels of skills and attitude (or whatever it is you chose the teams on) and if there is anyone who would like some feedback about how they went during the trials I am happy to sit down with you and explain to you what skills need improvement to achieve the level of netball you would like.
hope that helps.

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
