I'm coaching a small 12 year old side who are playing girls twice their size. I was hoping to some drills or strategies I can implement in their training for attack and defence so we can stop getting flogged every game
do a lot of preliminary move drills to teach them to get away from their players and get in front to receive the ball. preliminary moves are skills like, dodge, double dodge, 1/2 spin, full spin, change of pace, change of direction, cutting in. these all require good footwork, and the aim is to get away from the play to find their own space, and to run towards the person with the ball. also get them to spread out and not crowd. this is still common at this age group.
hope that helps.
