Teaching year 3's who have never played before - does anyone have some lessons plans I can work with?
First you need to gauge their basic skills, ie, passing, catching, pivoting. Once you know what their base skills are then you can focus on teaching them the game of netball itself, which in its essence is "get the ball then get a goal". Teach them to be hungry for the ball (or as we say, the giant Jaffa lolly) so they have the courage to get the ball, even if that girl wasn't passing it to me. Teach them to link together passing chains and get close to the goal then shoot. Netball basics are 1,get the ball 2,pass to your team 3,shoot the goal Use drills that drive onto the ball rather than standing catching and passing. Play shadow to teach defense and squash the bug for pivoting. Hope this helps, have fun
in more ways than one
The early 'shoot from anywhere' era is over. Smart teams now use data-driven decision models to decide when the two-pointer is worth it.
