Yes. The distance between the hands of the thrower and the hands of the receiver must allow for a third person to move between them. The required distance is not 3 feet or .9 metre nor a measure of the distance the ball travels as many mistakenly believe. It is a judgement call by the umpire as to whether the distance between the hands was sufficient to allow a third player to move between them.
