Refereeing experience

Refereeing experience

Anyone who has refereeing experience??Can a referee go upto a team after speaking with the opposing team - saying I I appreciate in netball everyone can become competitive, but enough is enough and I am not having it anymore".Apparently the other team had complained to the referee about too much contact going on in the game? The referee did not mention anything to the coach/captain but went directly to the team.Thank you

Janet would know the answer to this, but from a coaches point of view, i would think that the umpire is required to talk to the coach of the team, who then talks to the team.

Umpire should be penalising infringements as they occur thereby keeping control of the game. If the game starts to get out of control & rough play escalates umpire should apply disciplinary measures (per the rule book) to offending players to bring back under control. Not really appropriate to address to one team`s coach because the other team complained about rough play.
