Recording goal attempts

I am recording my goalers accuracy in games. Do you count a missed attempt as a miss if it was obstructed and the shooter gets awarded a penalty shot? Or do you just count the penalty shot as an attempt?

My memory (albeit a bit hazy) is that an obstructed attempted shot, if missed, is not considered as an attempt with regard to stats.
