How do you preform a Perfect defensive rebound in netball
Hi Jenna,
The key things are positioning and timing.
If defending the shot, the key thing is to time the lean/hold to step in towards the shooting player just as they release the ball so as to be able to turn and block them out. Then it is a matter of timing a jump for the ball.
If playing on the other shooter then there is a need to try and hold or get a good position by using bodywork and strength to be better placed than the attacker. Then comes the timing and jump.
It is important to actually jump, too often we see players not actually getting up for the rebound, seems that the taller they are the less likely they are to actually jump.
Hope this helps,
Simon
