I have a 13 yr old who struggles to pass off quickly and always looks for a better option. When passing in drills her passes are strong but in a game they are weak and inaccurate. What drills can work on with her to assist?
she probably is very worried about wanting to make the RIGHT decision. its very common in young players. too many options. too many players running at her and calling for the ball. hence the confusion.
speak with her coach, so she can come up with some drills for you to do at home to help. but i am sure the coach is aware of the problem. maybe a few words from the coach to your daughter would be helpful too.
Certainly sounds like she may be struggling to make the right decision. As a parent I'm not sure that you could help and may even make the situation worse by trying. A coach in this situation would need to introduce decision making drills/scenarios to the team as a whole and incorporate into the training programme, if they haven't already. It is easier to practice decision making when faced with a variety of options and praise when right decision is made must be given immediately. Can't think of any one on one situations that would have the same effect.
