Pulling up contact. My GD was blocking the GA from getting close to the ring today by getting in her way. The WA had the ball on the edge of the circle and had not made the pass but the GA pushed into my GD to get through so I gave a penalty pass to my team where the push happened. The other umpire seemed to think that this was not affecting the movement of the ball. Was I right to give us the ball and award a penalty pass, despite the WA not having passed yet?
Hi Susan I noticed this has been answered in a previous post and I agree with the response the GA does not have the right to make position my moving or pushing an oposition player irregardess of where the ball is. A contact can occur off the ball or incidental to the ball movement and is still a contact. That is particularly relevent when players are blocking off the oposing teams movement. A couple of things to take into consideration though%3A was it just two players bumping into each other trying to get into position (fair contest) or was it a contact, thats up to decide as you see it.
Also did the GD move into the path where the GA was comitted to land therefore cause the contact, again will be your judgement on who had position first.
in more ways than one
No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
Train your defenders to win clean turnovers, not just disrupt. The difference between good defenders and great ones is taking the ball, not just touching it.
