Can anybody help with a template/structure for a pre-season training schedule. Our club are evolving from a social netball team if mixed abilities (ages 20-40 ish) to a more competetive club with 1st & 2nd teams. We've never undergone any pre-season training before and I'm a newly qualified UKCC level 2 trying to get more experience at the same time as developing a training plan for the coming season.Any help/tips gratefully accepted.
i dont have any templates, but there are some really good lesson plans on here that might help. fitness and ball skills is always a good starting point, as well as footwork, defence and circle work. will give you a really good indication of who works well together, and who is more serious about their netball than others.
hope that helps.
I agree, pre-season is a great time to get back to the basics, with more of a focus on fitness and ball skills. You might want to consider having extra or longer practices during pre-season, so that you don't neglect group work and team strategies.
Experiment with differerent team line-ups, and include scratch matches. Set goals for the team, and each player, so that everyone is headed in the same direction.
It will take time for a team to gel, so be patient.

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
