Hi can you give me advice on a weekly exercise? How do you divide your exercises? When to do footwork, ball skills etc?
Hi Corré,
This can be very much personal preference and can depend on what areas you athletes need to work on. If you do not have time within the session to complete footwork or ball skills for example, you can set your athletes tasks to complete at home such as a ball and wall programme.
Many coaches plan their weekly sessions differently, however I would advise planning your sessions based upon what your athletes need to improve upon - split into attack, defence or specific court areas. For example, you may notice your players are struggling to get out for a centre pass - therefore you may plan a session based around this, that can involve all players.
If you do have time within your sessions, you can incorporate footwork and ball skills, this would usually be at the beginning of your session to get your athletes thinking and reacting, ready to start your session.
Hope this helps.
