What drills are best to help slow down the pass, in other words use the 3 seconds allowed. To help players reposition for the next pass. Training is too fast a pace.

is the pass too fast or is the person receiving the pass not breaking correctly? What age group are we talking? I taught my 11 and 12 yr olds to pass quickly to not allow defence to set up. It all about spreading out, everyone doing their job, ,and cutting across court to receive the pass. If this group is older than 12 then they should releasing quickly, but if they are still learning to catch, land, and release, then thats a different story. What is the issue with the quick passes? is the person stepping and not landing balanced already knowing where the pass is going to be? are there too many players breaking and causing crowding? is one player always trying to get the pass and not allowing everyone to do their job? are the players standing behind their players calling for a pass? generally its not the fast passing that is the issue, its normally the result from not having the necessary skills to do fast passing.
if you can tell me what the resulting issue is with the passing i might be able to help nut out a solution.
in more ways than one
Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
