I WOULD LIKE A SUGGESTION OF A PRE-SEASON PROGRAM FROM NOVEMBER TILL FEB
Hi Marie,
Pre-season can always be a difficult time and is arguably the most important time to get your players match fit ready for the season ahead. Personally, I would advice a gentle introduction in November, bulding up intensity - maybe introduce some fun circuits and game to get your players working hard but ensuring pre-season is still enjoyable.
I would also advise working on specific court areas for example for 2 or 3 weeks work specifically on defence. Looking at areas such as your players body angle, going for clean interceptions and keeping their player high and wide (high up court away from the opposition shooting end andd wide, towards the sidelines).
I would then do the same but focusing 2 or 3 weeks on attack. Here you might look at your players movement and way they get free, the angles they are driving for the ball and looking to balance the court.
This will really enable your players to get back into the swing of things and brush up on the fundamentals of netball.
Try to arrange some friendly matches, as this will allow your players to implement what they have been working on in pre season, whilst also allowing you to see areas that need improvement.
As a final note, it is crucial your players keep up their injury prevention, particualrly during pre season, as this will ceetainly help them stay injury free throughout the regular season. For iddeas on injury prevention check out our category here.
Hope this helps.
