i know it says it must be short not sticking over the finger if your hand is turned upside down but can you play with Gel on your nails as the Gel makes the nail so that it can not scratch the opponent.

Regardless of Gel on your nails I believe you will find most coaches and referees will ask for nails to be short and not seen from the underside of the finger. For both your safety and that of other players.
However this will be based on your officials discretion.
