I'm a shooter and need skills to deal with defenders blocking my shot with their hand. I find it either puts me off completely and I shoot badly or else I keep shooting it up into their hand.
If you find that all defenders are able to block your shots it may be that you are stepping in and closing the distance try during your practices to be aware of your landing foot and if you step forward with the other foot try stepping back or try a split landing and choose the backfoot to keep grounded both of these options will put a bigger distance between you and the defender. good luck
I agree with the above answer but would also like to add maybe just to dummy some shots to give you a chance of a free shot. And also to try and loop you shots more. If the defenders are getting a hand to your shots maybe you need to just sent your shot higher up. Also just try and shoot from a higher point, by holding the ball above your head which makes it further away from the defenders, making it harder for them to reach the shot. I hope I make some sense and I hope this helps in improving your shooting %3A)
The dummy shot works great, i teach my shooters this and when they implement it on the court it rarely lets them down

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
