If you drop the ball during play, can you block?

If you drop the ball during play, can you block off the opposing team till a member of your team retrieves it? If not, what is the infringement?

there is no reason why you cant block/zone the opposition from picking up the ball after you have dropped it.  provided it isnt so they can take a penalty pass or shot.
