How to determine playing positions of new players?

How can I as a beginning coach best determine the playing positions of my girls and where they best suit? Most of them are new to the sport.

that is a great question.. i am a new coach myself and was wondering the same thing.. i guess the tall girls would be shooters or defences and the one that can run the most might be C bugger that hhahaha and mmmmmmm maybe do a half court trial and see what they can do...
