How do stop my u11's from stepping, we do drills at training but during the game they keep stepping?
I have found that because they stop before they catch the ball, this leads to stepping. If you can teach them to run to the ball and land on outside leg (I know not that easy) this should reduce it. Because they are taught early to catch stop and pivot, its harder to break them out of it. Balancing is always important for not stepping and you can incorporate Simon Says " stand on your left foot etc" and its a bit of fun and still learning. Also if you have the NSG disk for skills and drills, it has a lot of drills in there also and can up the drills to suit the age group. I hope this helps
I currently coach u11's and I have used a smiley face sticker on the top of the shoe you wish them to land on (its easier to pick just one foot to start with til they get the hang)get them to concentrate landing on the foot with the smiley sticker on it...I hope it helps...
Hi, i currently coach u/11's and find that if you put a coin in one of their shoes they can feel which foot they landed on first. When i first heard of this i thought yeah right but then i had a player who stepped all the time and try the coin in shoe and yes it does work.
as they are learning to teach them to land on both feet then they can determind themselves which foot to pivot on. This keeps them balance so that they can learn to pivot and pass with confidence by then they have the knowledge to land on one foot and not step

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
