How do i get 9 year olds to teach them spacing to receive the ball in their area?
practice double breaking into a space away from the defender with coach pasing the ball to them/ahead of them in attempt to get away from the defender, into the space and catch the ball.
Lay out a series of cones in a zig zag pattern. Get the girls to try and sprint around them, changing direction every time. The more they dodge, the more effective the drill will be, as defenders will have trouble keeping up, especially with young players. Good Luck!!
try chalking the court and assigning them a zone, the younger the player the better this works as they see the line and accept as a barrier. Practise with the lines for a while, you will notice that they start to space out better
