I am finding our girls are lost on court. Some players are playing harder to make up for girls not being where they should be.
Hi Ange,
This can be a very common issue for younger players as they are so drawn to the ball. Encourage your players to spread out away from the ball and demonstrate what this would look like on court - explain how this will open up the court and allow more space for not only themselves but their other team mates and allow the ball carrier to see their options more clearly.
Also try to teach your players to clear out, so if they make a drive for the ball and they are not used, clear out to make space for other players. I have attached a drill that may help your players understand this better. 2 players will offer for the ball, like in a game situation, the player who does not receive the ball will clear out and then re offer for the ball.
Hope this helps.

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
