I want to know if there is a way to make the girls fight for the ball more and not back away from their opponents. Any suggestions?
Hi there, Personally I would get them involved in some simple interception drills, perhaps practising ball ups, working on holding your ground for the lob if you are a shooter and general drills that involve a race for the ball. Perhaps it wouldn't help to think outside the box and combine elements such as accepting a pass whilst hitting someone braced with large boxing pads etc. I hope these suggestions help %3A)
Hi Megan What if you were to stand with the ball and have players stand on either side of you. You roll the ball away from you and yell go. The two girls on either side run for the ball. Give it time and alot of encouragement. Love toknow how you get on.
from what Rangi above has suggested would be a good thing to do. i had the same problem with my team, they are ages 11 yrs and 12. finding activities where they are fighting for the ball with another player is a great way to bring out their skills and talents. goodluck

No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
Train your defenders to win clean turnovers, not just disrupt. The difference between good defenders and great ones is taking the ball, not just touching it.
